This research is being conducted by Dr. Ronnie Fass, MD.  Dr. Fass is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Director of the GI Motility Laboratories at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System and the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center, and Head of the Neuro-Enteric Clinical Research Group.

A scientific study at UMC is one of a growing number nationwide to look at whether the prayers of a distant stranger can actually help a patient.  Tucson Citizen, a local newspaper visited Tucson Johrei Center and wrote an article about Johrei and scientific study being conducted at the University Medical Center.

Oct 27, 2008.   A Scientific Study About Healing Surgical Patients

The double-blind clinical study, part of a $1.3 million grant to the University of Arizona by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative medicine of the National Institute of health, will examine the effects of Johrei on patients recovering from cardiac bypass surgery.
